چکیده
The larynx or voice box is a cylindrical space which lies at the upper end of the trachea opposite to the 3—6 cervical cartilages. It is a cartilaginous structure made up of 6 different types of cartilages. Major cartilages forming the framework of the larynx are thyroid, cricoid and epiglottis. The unpaired cartilages are three in number, namely arytenoids, corniculate and cuneiform. Cricoid cartilage is in the form of a complete ring which lies below the thyroid cartilage. Vocal cords are attached to the thyroid and arytenoid cartilages. Various muscles wrap the cartilages which produce movements at the cricoarytenoid and cricothyroid joints.

Pleomorphic Adenoma of the Larynx: A Case Report
Introduction: Pleomorphic adenomas are tumors mostly originating from salivary glands. These lesions in the larynx are very rare. Case Report: We report a rare case of pleomorphic adenoma that originated from the mucosal lining, just above the glottic area at the level of the laryngeal ventricle in a 55-year-old female patient. The tumor could not be palpated easily but was observed in the C...
متن کاملInflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor of the Larynx: A Case Report
Introduction: Inflammatory myofibroblastic pseudotumors are initially described in the lung and various extrapulmonary sites such as the orbits, palatine tonsils, ears, gingiva, pterygomaxillary space, and periodontal tissues. These tumors rarely involve the larynx and predilection to the glottis occurs in an indolent manner. Case Report This case describes a laryngeal myofibroblastic tumor i...

Introduction: Necrotizing sialometaplasia is a rare, benign, and self-limiting inflammatory lesion that commonly involves minor salivary glands. It is theoretically associated with ischemia. It is commonly found in the palate, and laryngeal presentation is a very unusual entity. Almost half of such cases have an underlying malignancy; therefore, suspicion of a malignant lesion should be high wh...

Case Report: A 60-year-old man was presented to the Otolaryngology Department with progressive dyspnoea and dysphagia to solids for over a period of 1 week. Direct laryngoscopy revealed a tumour at the laryngeal aspect of the epiglottis, which prolapsed into...

Larynx is part of the upper respiratory tract composed of cartilaginous skeleton, muscles and mucus lining inside. This structure keeps larynx open for air passage and is one of the important factors in producing voice. A good knowledge of larynx dimensions is neccessary to obtain better results in the treatment of laryngeal disorders. The size of larynx and its dimensions are subject to sex, r...
